Is it free? That's the first question I asked when searching for an AI interview assistant for my spring job hunt. I'm 25 and have a Master's in Computer Science with a focus on ML from UCLA. Honestly, I found myself caught up in free trials, confusing subscription plans, and hidden fees.
I noticed many people like me take a wrong turn when evaluating AI interview assistant, so I wanted to share what I wish I had known earlier. This way, you can find the right fit for yourself.
I ended up choosing Linkjob.ai. It may not have the most features, but for jobs in tech and fintech, it's the most specialized option. Plus, its pricing is much lower than similar products, while still delivering great performance—especially in the realm of interview prep for finance and tech roles. Other options might offer more features, but for me, they felt a bit excessive.
Before choosing a product, I think it’s crucial to define your needs first. I highly recommend you do the same—looking for solutions with a clear question is way more efficient than aimlessly Googling for 30 minutes. My needs at the time were:
Requirement Element | Description | Corresponding Function |
Job Track | Computer Science and FinTech | A rich database of tech and finance interview questions, with AI models for coding and financial analysis. |
Interview Format | OA & Online Interview | Recognizes online test questions; can record audio and provide cheating answers during online interviews. |
Price Range | $50-100/month | Subscription of $50-100/month; one-time purchase not exceeding $500. |
Practice Mode | Offers mock interview practice | Supports realistic and high-quality mock interviews for practice. |
Personalized Answers | Generates tailored answers based on background | Provides resume analysis, customized answers, and smart question prediction. |
Product Stability | Quick response and answer generation | Few bugs, low latency, real-time answer generation, highly usable. |
Product Security | Undetectable by interviewers | Bypasses screen tracking and coding monitoring, making me appear like a normal interviewee. |
I’ll only look for a product when I have clear needs—this saves me 80% of wasted browsing time. I know the true cost of buying an AI interview assistant goes beyond just the monthly fee. I have to consider the payment model, features, integration challenges, model quality, and even the time it takes to learn how to use the tool. Check out this simple table I made; it helps you identify the truly important factors:
Considerations | Description |
Direct Costs | Subscription/Purchase price; software implementation and deployment costs; maintenance and upgrade fees; |
Indirect Costs | Learning costs: basic and advanced feature training, parameter adjustments, integration optimization; External costs: interview failures and subsequent costs due to mismatched features or unstable software; Opportunity costs: benefits of products from other companies you miss out on |
Before looking for paid AI interview tools, I checked out some free options available. There are many good-quality software out there, and I’ll compile a list later. But first, I want to say that if you meet any of these five conditions, free software will be more than enough, so don’t stress about not using paid tools:
Your interviews don’t really involve technical assessments, like coding, case analysis, or financial calculations—just behavioral interviews, company culture tests, or personality assessments.
You’re sure the company won’t use advanced monitoring tech (screen tracking, copy-paste checks, eye tracking, video recording, etc.) to catch you using AI to cheat.
You have plenty of time to prepare for the interview, or you’ve practiced enough that any minor flaws won’t hurt your chances.
You just want to use interviews with smaller companies to build confidence before applying to big firms.
You feel strongly that using AI tools to cheat is unethical.
For these situations, I think free AI tools are a better fit. In fact, even though I bought a paid software, I still use free tools a lot to prepare for interviews. Here’s a list of the products my classmates and I use most often, along with their features, for your reference:
Product Name | Feature Description | Drawbacks |
Google Interview Warmup | Practice common interview questions, audio playback, instant feedback | Requires registration with limited slots; single practice is only 15 minutes; question depth is limited to 500 official questions |
ChatGPT/Gemini | Simulates voice interviews, generates text answers, analyzes basic tech questions | Poor performance on STEM reasoning; questions too broad; responses can be mechanical; requires manual text input |
Teal Interview AI | Unlimited resume and cover letter optimization, job info tracking | Advanced features require a paid subscription |
LeadifyJobs | AI-generated personalized messages for free | Advanced features require a paid subscription |
Huru | Free interview simulation with 29 common industry questions | Advanced features require a paid subscription |
Pramp AI | Realistic AI interview simulations, coding interview practice | Limited to 4 free uses per day |
For most people, I think the basic features of the software listed above are enough. There are also free desktop software options specifically for interview simulations, but they usually just offer a trial version—like 5-10 free practice interviews per month, basic AI scoring, and some general question banks. The biggest benefit of buying a paid AI interview tool is the advanced real-time cheating features I get. This includes things like microphone voice analysis, answer generation, advanced anti-AI monitoring tech, complex reasoning for STEM programming questions, and personalized resume assessments with custom answers.
Since I’m mostly interviewing for positions at well-known tech and finance companies like Google, TikTok, Amazon, and Goldman Sachs, these interviews are tough, with a lot of technical questions. Plus, online interviews are highly competitive, and they have strict detection for simple AI cheating methods. So, I decided to invest in a paid AI interview assistant.
I looked into over 20 major paid software options and found three main pricing models: subscription-based, one-time purchase, and pay-per-use. Most software offers multiple plans for users to choose from.
I selected the 7 most popular AI interview tools based on their compatibility with different systems and summarized their pricing model differences:
Product Name | Subscription Model | Subscription Usage Limit | One-Time Purchase | Pay-Per-Use | Supported Systems | Product Tiers |
Linkjob.ai | Monthly/QuarterlyYearly | Unlimited | Yes | No | Mac/Windows | Premium |
Cluely.ai | Monthly/Yearly | Unlimited | No | No | Mac/Windows | Pro/Pro+ |
Finalround.ai | Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly | Unlimited | No | No | Mac/Windows | Pro/Premium |
Parakeet.ai | Monthly/Yearly | Unlimited | Yes | Yes | Mac/Windows | Basic/Pro/Premium |
Beyz.ai | Monthly/Yearly | Standard version 5 times/month (Unlimited for premium) | No | No | Mac/Windows | Standard/God/Titan |
LockedIn.ai | Monthly/Quarterly | Unlimited | Yes | Yes | Mac/Windows | General/Pro |
Verve.ai | Monthly | Standard version 60 times/month (Unlimited for premium) | No | No | Mac/Windows | Standard/Pro |
Before interview season, I expected the whole process to take 4-6 months, with a lot of companies to interview, mainly online on PC since I need to do coding and system design tests for my computer science field. Given these factors, I was inclined to buy a desktop AI interview tool that supports quarterly subscriptions (covering the entire interview cycle) or a one-time purchase at a reasonable price (useful for this interview cycle and future promotions/job changes), with no limits on usage after subscribing.
From my calculations, quarterly subscriptions are about 30% cheaper per month compared to monthly ones. One-time purchase prices are usually equivalent to 12-15 months of monthly subscriptions or 4-5 quarterly subscriptions. Based on flexibility in subscription options and usage limits, I narrowed it down to four products: Linkjob.ai, Finalround.ai, Parakeet.ai, and LockedIn.ai, which offer more flexible and unrestricted choices.
While all four products allow unlimited usage, not every product offers an incognito mode. For example, Finalround AI and Cluely AI only provide the interview assistant for sales meetings and non-secure environments if you subscribe to the basic Pro features.
To access the interview incognito mode, I would need to subscribe to the more expensive Pro+ or Premium features, which can cost about 30% more than the regular subscription (I'll include a detailed price comparison in a later article). This was one of the reasons I ultimately chose Linkjob.ai.
Of course, if you don’t have many interviews or can wrap things up in 1-2 months, I recommend going for monthly payment options or products that support pay-per-use. A one-time purchase might not be worth it.
For products like Beyz.ai and Verve.ai, if you subscribe to the standard version, you'll still face usage limits each month. You need to subscribe to a higher-tier product for unlimited use. If you strongly believe in the "paying means absolute freedom" concept, I suggest you carefully review each product's usage policies to avoid any unpleasant experiences.

First, I strongly advise you not to fall into the trap of “the cheaper, the better” especially when it comes to buying products with monthly subscriptions under $10. Here are two reasons why:
The top-selling AI interview tools on the market generally have minimum subscription prices around $30 per month. Anything significantly lower than that is suspicious. Some software offers extremely low prices, like $1-5, to attract users, which often means their products are highly unreliable. This could include unstable performance, poor-quality models, or weak anti-AI detection features. There’s even a chance the product isn’t selling well, and the developers are trying to make quick cash with a “low-price gimmick.” In this case, even if you buy it, the product may soon become unusable due to lack of maintenance.
Many products lure you in with “low prices,” but once you’re in the software, you find out that most advanced features come with extra charges and lots of “hidden costs.” In contrast, most mainstream AI interview tools will unlock all premium features once you pay, without charging you for each individual feature.
Like most students, I’m not from a wealthy background or a millionaire, so I also compare prices within a reasonable range. After all, we’re all dealing with expensive student loans while studying and job hunting, so every dollar counts. Because of this, I carefully compared the prices of the seven products listed above and found that the absolute price doesn’t necessarily reflect the quality of service you get.
Based on three key factors that matter to me, I compared which AI interview tool offers the best value. These factors are:
Trial options
Real monthly/quarterly subscription costs
Which AI models you can actually use with that plan
I compared the trial options for these seven products:
Linkjob.ai offers a 30-minute trial, supporting 3 basic models: Gemini, Claude, and GPT. It includes all advanced features like interview incognito mode, code generation cheating, resume interview customization, and AI mock interviews.
Cluely.ai provides three free trials, supporting 3 basic models: Gemini and GPT. It includes advanced features like interview incognito mode, code generation cheating, and resume interview customization.
Finalround.ai offers unlimited trials, supporting 3 basic models: Gemini, GPT, and simple mock interviews. It includes AI resume analysis, basic meetings, and AI mock interviews, but you can't access advanced features like interview incognito mode or code interviews.
Parakeet.ai gives a 10-minute trial, supporting 3 basic models: Gemini, Claude, and GPT. It includes all advanced features like interview incognito mode, AI resume analysis, and AI mock interviews.
Beyz.ai has a 15-minute trial, supporting 2 basic models: Gemini and GPT. It includes AI resume analysis and mock interviews but doesn't have advanced features like interview cheating or code interview cheating.
LockedIn.ai provides a 10-minute trial, supporting 2 basic models: Gemini and GPT. It includes AI resume analysis and mock interviews but lacks advanced features like interview cheating or code interview cheating.
Verve.ai offers three free trials, each lasting 15 minutes, plus five mock interviews. It supports 2 basic models: Gemini and GPT and provides five interview feedback reports. It includes interview incognito mode and AI resume generation but doesn’t have industry knowledge base expansion.
Overall, if you need a longer trial or more free trials, Linkjob.ai, Cluely.ai, Finalround.ai, and Verve.ai are better choices. However, Cluely and Finalround only support non-incognito features during the trial and don't allow for testing code cheating. So if you want products with interview incognito mode and code cheating features, Linkjob.ai and Verve.ai are actually more advantageous.

I found that each AI interview tool offers different specialized plans, and the features they support vary. So, directly comparing the absolute prices on their websites isn't fair.
I believe we need to standardize the pricing based on my usage requirements to determine the true monthly or quarterly subscription costs. Based on the analysis in the first part, my requirements for the product are:
In the tech and finance fields, the AI interview tool should have a substantial question bank and support AI models for programming and financial analysis;
It must support real-time microphone input and screen scanning, generating answers with low latency;
It should have an incognito feature so the other party can't tell I'm using AI to cheat;
It needs to provide resume analysis and personalized answer generation. All four of these requirements must be met for me to consider paying for it.
Also, for bundled pricing, the actual number of usable models can differ by company. For example, if you only purchase a monthly subscription, you generally only get access to basic deep reasoning models. Only annual subscriptions grant access to all the latest deep reasoning models (like Claude Code Opus, Claude Sonnet, Claude Haiku, GPT 5.1/4o, Gemini 3/3.1 Pro, Grok 3, etc.).
Based on this standard, I confirmed the corresponding plans and prices for the seven products above and organized them into the following table:
Product | Plan Options | Actual Subscription Price ($) | Available Advanced Models |
Linkjob.ai | Premium MonthlyQuarterly/Annual One-time | Monthly 99.99 Quarterly 69.99/M Annual 29.99/M One-time 699.99 | 3 models 6 models 10 models 10 models |
Cluely.ai | Pro + Undetectability Monthly/Annual | Monthly 74.99 Annual 44.99/M | Not disclosed |
Finalround.ai | Pro Monthly/Quarterly/Annual / Premium Annual | Monthly 150 Quarterly 83.33/M Annual 25/M Premium Annual 41.67 | 6 models 10 models 12 models 12 models |
Parakeet.ai | Premium Monthly/Annual One-time | Monthly 74.90 Annual 224.90/M One-time 449.90 | 6 models 10 models 12 models |
Beyz.ai | Titan Semi-Annual | Semi-Annual 149.40 | 8 models |
LockedIn.ai | Professional Monthly/Quarterly One-time | Monthly 119.90 Quarterly 79.99/M One-time 1499.25 | 12 models 12 models 16 models |
Verve.ai | Pro Monthly | Monthly 239.99 | 16 models |
Since I'm a computer science student, I really care about whether the product includes all Claude models, as its programming capabilities are currently top-notch in the industry. As for GPT and Gemini, each has its strengths in language generation, but for interviews, I think they’re good enough. There’s no need to buy the latest large language models like GPT 5.3/5.4.
In terms of model variety, Linkjob.ai, Cluely.ai, Finalround.ai, Parakeet.ai, LockedIn.ai and Verve.ai have the most options. However, considering the price, Verve AI and LockedIn AI have average monthly subscription costs that are 4-10 times higher than similar products. I don't think it’s worth spending that much on extra features unless you're interviewing for top positions like research engineers, so I ruled out the last three AI interview tools.
For the first four tools, Parakeet AI and Linkjob AI offer one-time purchase subscriptions. Parakeet is about 30% cheaper than Linkjob for a one-time buyout. For monthly subscriptions, Parakeet only allows annual payment upfront, while Linkjob allows monthly payments and can be canceled anytime. I value payment flexibility, so I chose Linkjob.ai, which can be canceled anytime. Of course, if you trust Parakeet's quality, you can go with their annual subscription, which saves you about 37.5% compared to Linkjob.
As for the remaining Cluely AI and Finalround AI, Cluely has a more affordable subscription price, but their website and product details don’t disclose which models they use. Finalround AI, on the other hand, has a high price of $150 per month and $41.67 per month for annual plans, which forced me to remove it from my options. So overall, Linkjob.ai and Parakeet AI offer the best pricing flexibility and value. If you have a bigger budget, you could also consider Finalround, LockedIn, and Verve.

To summarize the analysis above, here are my purchasing suggestions:
If your interview is not too difficult, the cheating detection is low, and the theoretical requirements are basic or not tested separately, you can choose a free product and skip the payment.
If you prefer a one-time purchase instead of a subscription, consider Linkjob AI, Parakeet AI, or LockedIn AI. Linkjob AI and Parakeet are priced around $500-700, while LockedIn AI is the most expensive at about $1500.
If you want rich models, strong specialization, and unlimited access to advanced features like AI simulation and resume analysis, you can go for Linkjob AI Premium, Cluely AI Pro + Undetectability, or Parakeet AI Premium. Linkjob AI has the highest vertical focus in tech and finance interviews, while the others cover a broader range (like sales, remote meetings, product management, etc.).
If you have a solid budget and are okay with monthly subscriptions and unrestricted use of advanced features, you can look at Finalround AI, LockedIn AI, and Verve AI.
Before choosing, be aware of these risk points:
Avoid extremely low-priced products (especially those under $10/month). They are far below the market average, have poor stability, and pose high security risks.
Make sure the product plan meets your needs. Some products have multiple plans like Standard/Pro/Pro+, and the tech level, number of interviews, time limits, and model counts vary. Check your requirements before buying.
Pay attention to the payment frequency—monthly, every six months, or annually. Some products may seem cheaper monthly but require full annual payment upfront, which needs careful consideration if you have limited cash flow.
Based on pricing flexibility, model variety, actual monthly costs, and the specialization of tech interviews, I ultimately chose Linkjob AI. This is just my choice; each product has its strengths in different features. You can try free trials to find the product that suits you best. If you want to compare features of these products, check out articles like "The 8 Best AI Tools for Interview Preparation".
I wish you the best in finding a product you’re happy with and in acing your interviews!
Linkjob AI offers a 30-minute free trial for every new registered account. During this time, you can try out all the premium features like interview invisibility, code cheating, resume analysis, customized answer generation, and interview simulations. You'll have access to basic reasoning models like GPT 4o Mini, Gemini 3 Flash, and Claude Haiku.
Yes, Linkjob AI supports a one-time purchase priced at $699.99, which is 55% cheaper than LockedIn AI at $1499.99 but about 50% more expensive than Parakeet AI at $499.99.
If you want a top-notch interview experience in finance and tech, Linkjob AI is your best bet. It has over 75,000 tech interview questions and more than 40,000 real interview recordings from financial companies. If you need an AI interview assistant for sales, phone meetings, or other roles, consider the cheaper one-time purchase for Parakeet AI.
The monthly subscription for Linkjob AI costs $99.99. The quarterly plan is priced at $69.99 per month (billed for 3 months upfront), and the annual subscription is $29.99 per month (billed for 1 year upfront). These prices are 30%-50% cheaper than similar products from Finalround, LockedIn, and Verve.
You can cancel your subscription at any time, according to the usage policy. The monthly plan offers unlimited access to the three basic reasoning models. The quarterly plan includes Claude Sonnet, Gemini 3 Pro, and GPT 4o, which are three higher-level reasoning models. The annual plan gives you access to all 10 advanced reasoning models, including Claude Code Opus, GPT 5.1, Grok 3, and Gemini 3.1 Pro.
Members who opt for the one-time purchase can use all product features without any limitations for life and will also receive all future model updates and customer support services.
