A while ago, I applied for a SDE position at Microsoft and soon received a HackerRank test. Since I hadn’t prepared much, I googled possible questions the day before the test. That’s when I found two products claiming to have an AI Interview Assistant feature: AI Apply and Linkjob AI. I decided to try both.
I first tried AI Apply, which has a feature called Interview Buddy. It claimed to provide real-time interview help. I selected the real-time assistant option, filled out personal information, registered an account, and uploaded my resume to wait for AI optimization, though I wasn’t sure why this step was needed.
After waiting a long time, I found that viewing results required payment, and none of the paid plans included the AI Interview Assistant service I wanted. I eventually found the Interview Buddy page, which said the AI could be used invisibly during interviews. I was interested, but downloading it still required payment and there was no trial. Frustrated, I left AI Apply and tried Linkjob AI.
Linkjob AI was much simpler. I could download the desktop version directly from the homepage by entering my email. I asked a friend to help me test the AI Interview Assistant. The AI-generated answers were personalized, fast, and capable of handling both general and coding questions, which AI Apply could not do. Most importantly, Linkjob AI was completely undetectable.
I decided to use Linkjob AI for my interview, and I have now passed. Below, I’ll share more about my experience using it.

First, the main reason I decided to use an AI interview assistant at the time was that both products claimed to be undetectable. This was the most important factor, because getting caught would have been disastrous. Below are the statements from the two products regarding their undetectability:

I also watched a short YouTube video from AI Apply that showcased the use of their AI Copilot. However, I noticed that it only demonstrated the mobile version, not the desktop version, which was completely different from what was shown on the official website. This made me question whether AI Apply could really operate invisibly on a desktop. Can it actually be used on a computer? If so, why don’t they show it?
I also checked whether these two platforms support the services I would need for my interview, especially HackerRank. It seems that AI Apply’s AI Interview Assistant can only handle general questions and cannot deal with coding interviews. This was one of the reasons I ultimately chose to use Linkjob AI. The platforms they support are as follows:

It can be seen that Linkjob AI not only supports meeting platforms but also online coding assessment platforms. Moreover, it frequently verifies the AI’s undetectability, which gave me a lot of reassurance.
Besides these two most important points, I also looked into the other features and functions of the AI Interview Assistant on both platforms:
Features | Linkjob AI | AI Apply |
|---|---|---|
Undetectable during screen sharing | Supported | Not mentioned |
Not visible in the Docker tray | Supported | Not mentioned |
Undetectable in the active tab | Supported | Not mentioned |
Customized Service | Can upload resume, positions applied for, and companies applied to. Can also add any additional information to provide. | Not mentioned |
General interview questions (e.g., behavioral questions, cultural fit, motivational questions, etc.) | Supported | Not supported |
Coding Interview | Supported. Answers include problem-solving approach and fully copyable code solutions. | Not supported |
Screenshot response | Supported | Not supported |
File upload response | Supported | Not supported |
Intelligent Suggestions | After hearing the interviewer’s question, the AI supports immediately choosing a response direction or directly generating an optimal comprehensive answer. | Not supported |
List the key points of the answer in bullet points | Supported | Not supported. The AI only generates a single complete paragraph. |
Overall, I cannot trust AI Apply’s undetectable feature, as it is very likely to be exposed as soon as the screen is shared. I think this may also be why AI Apply focuses on the mobile version.
In comparison, Linkjob AI takes into account various points where detection could occur and provides clear explanations. It also supports a wider range of interview scenarios and can be used at every stage of the process.

Now, I will compare the subscription plans of the two products. For a better comparison, I have converted AI Apply’s weekly plan into a monthly subscription cost.
Linkjob AI Plans | Linkjob AI Pricing and Supported Functions | AI Apply Interview Buddy Plans | AI Apply Interview Buddy Pricing and Supported Functions |
|---|---|---|---|
Free Trial | $0 (10 minutes + 20 minutes) Allows access to all features of the paid subscription during the trial. | Desktop Yearly Plan | 12$ / month Includes AI Interview Prep Tool. Does not mention the AI Interview Assistant. |
Annually Plan | 24.99$ / month All features are available without any limits. | Desktop Monthly Plan | 29$ / month Includes AI Interview Prep Tool. Does not mention the AI Interview Assistant. |
Quarterly Plan | 34.99$ / month All features are available without any limits. | Mobile Yearly Plan | 9.6$ / month (1.92$ / week) Includes AI Interview Assistant. |
Monthly Plan | 44.99$ / month All features are available without any limits. | Mobile Weekly Plan | 64.95$ / month (12.99$ / week) Includes AI Interview Assistant. |
Since AI Apply’s AI Interview Assistant offers different pricing and services on desktop and mobile, and does not explain the specific differences between them, I cannot be sure how reliable AI Apply is in a real interview setting. Additionally, AI Apply does not offer a free trial; payment is required to experience any of its services. Below are the screenshots I captured:

AI Apply only supports using ChatGPT-4o or ChatGPT-5 for submitting resumes, and ChatGPT-5 is only available with the Pro Plan subscription. As for the AI Interview Assistant, it does not specify which AI model it uses, nor can users choose one; it likely uses a single model. The advantage of this is that if I am not familiar with AI models, it doesn’t matter, since it automatically selects what it considers the most suitable.
Linkjob AI, on the other hand, allows users to choose from over 120 AI models in all plans. This lets me select the one that best fits my specific needs, including various versions of mainstream AI models like ChatGPT, Grok, Llama, Claude, Gemini, and more.
AI Apply does not allow me to adjust the AI prompt.
Linkjob AI allows me to customize the AI prompt, enabling the AI to generate answers that better match real situations. If there are specific roles or answer requirements, the prompt can also be adjusted accordingly.
Below is a comparison of some other services and features offered by the two products:
Features | Linkjob AI | AI Apply |
|---|---|---|
Languages Supported | 52+, and the AI automatically detects them. However, if there is a lot of background noise, accuracy may decrease slightly, though it does not affect usage because the AI automatically corrects it. | 20+. The product does not specify how to switch languages. |
Answer generation speed | Ultra-low (in one second) | Not mentioned, but based on other users’ videos, it generates very fast. |
Automatically detects the interviewer’s pauses without manual operation | Supported (though recognition is not always completely accurate) | Supported |
Real interview experience | Provide real interview experiences for various companies, across different interview stages and platforms. | Not provided |
Live transcription | Supported | Supported |
View AI answer history | Supports viewing all | Can only view the previous topic |
Move answer panel | Supported | Supported |
Collapse answer panel | Supported | Supported |
Technical interviews | Supported | Supported |
Supported programming languages | All major programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, C#, Go, Rust, Swift, Kotlin, and TypeScript, as well as many others. | Does not support coding interviews |
AI Apply does not provide official instructions for using the AI Interview Assistant, although there is a one-minute introduction that does not cover its undetectability or how to use its features.
Linkjob AI, on the other hand, has a two-minute YouTube tutorial that explains everything in detail. After watching it, I was able to operate it on my own. Once I downloaded the desktop version, I could also access the tutorial directly within the software. I immediately asked a friend to help me test all the features.
AI Apply only supports email for submitting issues.
Linkjob AI supports email, phone, web chatbot, Discord group chat, and more, providing 24/7 assistance.
AI Apply allows partial refunds. Refunds can be requested for reproducible and verifiable technical issues that seriously affect access or use of paid services. Sufficient and reasonable evidence must be provided.
Linkjob AI supports full refunds, which can be requested through any channel.
AI Apply collects personal information solely to provide its services. This does not apply to publicly available information, independently developed information, or information legally obtained from third parties without confidentiality obligations.
Linkjob AI collects personal information only to provide its services. All data is stored locally, ensuring it never leaves the user’s device.
Absolutely. AI Apply is better for resume optimization and submitting applications, while Linkjob AI’s AI Interview Assistant is more effective for interview preparation. It’s not just for HackerRank tests. I also used Linkjob AI in several later interview stages. I uploaded my resume, applied to companies and positions, and fine-tuned my AI prompts for each stage. The generated answers closely matched my real situation as well as the interviewer’s questions and follow-ups.
No any extra payment is required. The subscription already includes access to the APIs of over 120 AI models, so there are no additional costs.
AI Apply officially states that some users have successfully passed interviews. As for Linkjob AI, after joining its Discord group, I saw many positive reviews from users who had already passed their interviews.
