I've recently been searching for an AI interview assistant to help me ace my Shopify technical interview. Initially, I tried InterviewPal, which I'd used before for interview prep. It performed exceptionally well in resume editing, so I subscribed to its AI copilot feature. However, it only supports behavioral interviews and couldn't meet my technical interview needs. I ended up using Linkjob AI for my interviews because it goes beyond just behavioral interviews, offering both a coding interview copilot and a real-time AI interview assistant.
This article compares the features and pricing differences between InterviewPal and Linkjob.
Besides Linkjob, I also tested ParakeetAI and Interview Coder. If you're interested in these two AI interview assistants, check out these reviews: Parakeet AI review, Interview Coder review.
Online interview platforms primarily monitor candidates through the following methods:
Screen sharing: Interviewers/proctors can view everything you share via Zoom, Google Meet, or the platform's built-in tools—with no exceptions.
Webcam Eye Tracking (on specific platforms): Tracks your gaze direction; prolonged averted eyes from the screen may trigger alerts.
Code Paste Detection: flags extensive or frequent pasting within the code editor—considered potential cheating.
Tab Switching/Window Focus Loss: Detects when you leave the interview tab or click outside the browser, though it cannot see what you switch to.
Both products feature exceptionally robust stealth capabilities. They employ system-level integration technology, making them undetectable and visible only as a transparent, always-on-top floating window on my physical screen.
Based on my testing, they remain invisible even during full-screen sharing sessions. Since they are desktop applications rather than browser-based web apps, they won't be flagged by active tab detection features. They also handle details well, remaining absent from the menu bar, Dock, and process lists for complete concealment.
Beyond a few potential vulnerabilities that could reveal its presence, I found no major issues with InterviewPal. However, if you plan to use a programming interview assistant, I strongly recommend conducting a full test before your interview to ensure it remains undetectable under any circumstances.

Linkjob remains completely undetectable on most video interview and technical interview platforms. While InterviewPal hasn't explicitly stated this, given that it's a desktop application, I suspect it can also evade detection by most interview platforms. If you're concerned, you can test it before your interview or inquire with their official support.

But to be honest, I had some trouble finding certain settings in Linkjob at first. However, their video tutorials are extremely detailed, and after watching them, all my questions were answered.
One major drawback of InterviewPal is that it's only suitable for behavioral interviews and cannot handle coding interview—something I only discovered after paying. They don't offer a free trial, fail to clearly list their features on the payment page, and provide no instructional videos. Having trusted the product based on previous experiences, I proceeded to pay directly only to find it didn't meet my needs. This left me deeply disappointed.
For me, the real challenge of interviews lies in answering coding questions of a certain difficulty within a limited timeframe, or ensuring my system design solutions run smoothly. Therefore, I must find a technical interview assistant.
On the contrary, Linkjob offers comprehensive tutorial videos and allows users to fully explore all features during the free trial. The quality of generated content is also quite impressive (the plan I ultimately subscribed to includes models like GPT-4o, Claude, and Sonnet).

This feature is for taking screenshots. Both products support using undetectable global hotkeys to take screenshots. Linkjob AI's coding interview copilot can process multiple screenshots at the same time. This way, if the problem prompt is long, I can take several screenshots.

I asked a friend to conduct a mock interview with me to test the speech detection capabilities of two AI interview assistants.
Both can automatically detect sentence breaks and generate responses without any manual intervention. This is a significant advantage over some interview assistants (like Interview Coder), which require me to manually click buttons like “Start Interview,” “Pause,” and “End.” If I fail to press these buttons at the right moments, the AI might miss parts of the interviewer's questions, leading to incomplete or incorrect answers.
However, InterviewPal's recognition time is somewhat lengthy, and when combined with the time required for AI-generated responses, it becomes extremely awkward during actual interviews. I have to pretend to be thinking while waiting for InterviewPal to provide answers, which is fatal in real-time interviews and may even lead interviewers to suspect AI cheating.
Linkjob's issue lies in its sentence segmentation detection, which isn't always accurate. It sometimes identifies two sentences as one, and other times splits a single sentence into two. When this happens, I need to review the AI's response history to find the answer.
To be fair, neither product is flawless in sentence recognition. If you plan to use an AI assistant to answer follow-up questions during a programming interview, choose a product whose sentence recognition approach aligns better with your preferences.

InterviewPal only offers subscription plans based on credits. Honestly, it's quite affordable, but I wouldn't pay for it. First, each session has a time limit. If my behavioral interview runs long, I can't hang up and resume after resubscribing. Second, InterviewPal only supports behavioral interviews and isn't particularly user-friendly. Had I seen the reviews on Reddit before subscribing, I definitely wouldn't have paid.

Note: InterviewPal does not offer a free trial. Reviewing other users' experiences before making a purchase.
Linkjob operates on a time-based subscription model: Monthly subscription: $100 per month Quarterly subscription: $70 per month Annual subscription: $30 per month You can try it for 30 minutes before purchasing.

I notice Linkjob AI gives me real-time feedback during live sessions. Interviewpal provides feedback after the session. When I want to practice for a high-stakes interview, Linkjob AI helps me adjust my answers instantly.
I have tried real video interview simulations on both platforms. Linkjob AI offers interactive video sessions with instant suggestions. Interviewpal also supports video interviews, but I find the feedback less immediate.
I read real user reviews for both platforms. Many users mention Linkjob AI’s instant feedback and advanced analytics. Reviews for InterviewPal are quite mixed, so it's best to check out several before making a decision.
I tried Linkjob AI’s free trial before upgrading. It let me test real video interview features and analytics. Interviewpal offers paid plans, but I did not find a free trial option when I checked.
I find Linkjob AI’s dashboard modern and intuitive. Interviewpal keeps things simple, too. Both platforms work well for beginners, but Linkjob AI’s customization options make my practice sessions more flexible.
I use Linkjob AI for high-stakes interview practice because it gives me real-time support and detailed feedback. Interviewpal helps me organize my answers, but I feel more confident with Linkjob AI’s instant suggestions.
I practice technical interviews on Linkjob AI with instant code suggestions and real video interview simulations. InterviewPal does not support technical interviews.
